About Search

  • Select Search from the navigation bar. Search within STAAR or TELPAS data (based on the area selected).

  • Use Search to create custom search queries to either export data or generate Instructional Reports based on your results.

  • The more options selected on the Criteria tab, the smaller the search results.

  • If your search returns more than 10,000 records, you will need to narrow it by selecting more criteria.

  • Use the Settings icon (top right) to join multiple subjects from OR (broader results) to AND (more narrow). For example, search for students who did not pass Reading AND Math.

  • Click the Search icon (top right) or button at the bottom of the page once you have selected all your search criteria.

  • Click the Reset icon (top right) to clear all selections.

Select Criteria

  • Use the Criteria tab and expand sections (i.e., Location, Student, Demographics, Subjects, etc). to select desired options.

Location

  • To return results tied to the most recent class roster data in DMAC, select Current Campus. For results including students who were at a campus at the time tests were administered, check Administration Campus

  • Check the Snapshot checkbox next to the District name to select students who were at the district in the fall for PEIMS snapshot and for the test administration.

  • Snapshot (Fall/Admin Campus) references students enrolled during the Fall, prior to the administration of the test.

  • For Campus snapshot students, use the campus column to select students who were at the selected campus(es) in the fall for the PEIMS snapshot and at the same campus(es) for the test administration.

Administration

  • Use the Administration section to look for data by the Year, Month, Curriculum, Grade, Language, Retests, First-time administrations, or Test Mode.

Student

  • The Student section allows you to search for a particular student. When using this area, you must also select a Current Campus in the Location area if also searching for an enrolled grade.

Demographics - (Current Campus must also be selected when using this field)

  • A single selection made within each box will render data using an "AND" filter (e.g., Select Hispanic and At-Risk returns  students who are Hispanic AND At-Risk)

  • Multiple selections within a box will render a broader search (e.g., Select Hispanic and African American (in one box) and At-Risk will render BOTH Hispanic/At-Risk and African American/At-Risk).

Content Areas

  • Use the different sections for searching how students performed in different subjects (Math, ELAR, Science and Social Studies).

  • Search by Score Code, Test Version, Performance Measures, or Accommodations.

  • The Settings icon (top right) regulates searching with multiple content areas. Default searches in more than one area (ex: Reading and Math) are created with an “OR” filter (e.g., selecting Math/Approaches/Yes and Reading/Approaches/Yes will render data for students who met Approaches in Math OR Reading). Use the Settings icon to change the filter to "AND" and click Apply if you want to see students who met approaches in Math AND Reading.

List, Grid, and History Views

  • After clicking Search, information can be seen on the List, Grid or History tabs. The total number of records appearing in a search appears at the bottom of the screen. Use the page size drop-down or page numbers to view all results.

  • List - Click on the magnifying glass icon to the left of a student’s name to open their individual testing results.

  • Grid - Click the column headers sort. This tab will contain the most information when exported.

  • History - View or print a student’s complete testing history.

  • Click the Export icon on the top right to export data or view results in a spreadsheet format.

  • Your most recent search is also saved so that you can generate Instructional Reports using the Search tab.
